COVID-19 | Kansas City Re-opening

How I’m responding to COVID-19

Here we are. All in this together. That’s at least what they are saying. each of our stories and lives are different and COVID-19 has impacted our lives differently. Now we are at the stage of reopening our city. Scary? I think so. I still have no idea what has happened this year. It feels like such a blur.

Here are the following steps I am taking regarding the COVID-19 and how I will operate my business Susy Photo for the foreseeable future.

How has COVID-19 affected my business and family?

  • We SOLD our home and have had troubles with getting into our home we built. Still trying and hoping. Since I’m not essential business it’s been a doozy.
  • Home schooling is going…well…I’m not very good at it. lol
  • I’ve reschedule all sessions from March-Mid May and missed out on photographing so many amazing newborn babies.
  • It’s been different not having anything to edit and my downtime is refreshing Facebook these days.
  • I have been very interactive with my current couples during this time. We do ZOOM chats & have had some fun making a video in honor of all the 2020 brides! You can watch that here! We are also having a virtual bachelorette party coming up.
  • I’ve still been able to book future clients & weddings during this time. Thanks to Zoom! It’s not to0 late to book your future session!

It’s pretty great having so many amazing clients. I’ve been lucky so far that all my 2020 Brides have been able to reschedule & each client has been able to be flexible.

What am I doing going forward during Covid-19?

  • I plan on wearing a mask for all Newborn or studio sessions, during any part of a wedding where I can not be 6 ft away. This would include; getting ready, ceremony & reception. This is to assure I can protect myself for future sessions and weddings.
  • I will help you plan your sessions in less high volume traffic areas.
  • Newborns: I know personally how scary it is for new moms. For your newborn session I will do my part for using single use items.  Hand sanitizer will be with me during the session. I will have gloves and a fresh mask I’ll wear to your session. I do suggest you wear a mask for my safety as well. If we have full family portraits I ask that other family members only be there for family set up only. As with my other sessions, if one of us is ill then the session will be rescheduled at no cost.
  • If you worked with me in the past you know I’m a hugger & a hair fluffed during this pandemic I sadly will not be able to do these things. I respectfully hope you will understand and follow suit. Social distancing still needs to happen.
  • I also use to carry your purse or belongings like cell phones & keys. Please leave these things in your car.
  • I will not be using props during sessions so if you want a blanket or a chair you will need to bring that with you and be responsible for carrying it.
  • I am also monitoring new developments so that I can keep you updated on your session.
