What an honor to be a flown out to Lake Tahoe California to photograph Mikayla + Taylor’s wedding.
I met this young couple a few years ago while photographing one of their friends wedding. Obviously I made an impression on Mikayla + Taylor and when it came to planning their destination wedding in Lake Tahoe California they asked me! It was such an honor to be apart of this beautiful destination wedding.
I remember this day like it was yesterday and I so wish we could relive it daily! Mikayla was such a posed beautiful bride. When she walks in a room she lights it up.
My favorite part of the day at Lake Tahoe California (I have many) was the first look. Taylor sure was a gussying groom and his Love for her is one of a kind. He just had the best emotion on this romantic first look. Mikayla + Taylor had the perfect spot with the mountains in the back. I can’t stop looking at these images. Just breathtaking!
After the first look we got to hop aboard the Blue Wave Yacht in South Lake Tahoe. Now the was a first for me and I must say…BEST Ceremony location EVER! Why would you not want to get married on the most beautiful bright blue lake? Sharing these moments with my couples are surly something I will treasure forever. I also had the most excited time with my second shooter! Check her out she’s in FRESNO CALIFORNIA.
A destination wedding couldn’t of even happen without amazing vendors! Shout out to these fabulous venues.

What made you decided to have a destination Wedding?
“A few factors went into us choosing to have a destination wedding. We wanted to have a smaller wedding and we both love the water. Our original idea was to get married and have our honeymoon in the Bahamas, but realized some of our family wouldn’t be able to make it out of the country. So, we ended up combining our love of the water and Taylor’s love of the mountains and happened upon Lake Tahoe, which is the perfect mix of both!”
What tips would you share with other couples wanting to have a destination wedding?
“Some of our tips would be to give your guests roughly a year to be able to plan and save up to attend your wedding, save more than you think you need- unexpected expenses come up with most weddings, but can be more costly for a destination wedding, be diligent in communicating and confirming things with your vendors and be okay with not having hands on interaction with every aspect of your wedding. Most importantly, ASK FOR HELP. WEdding planning is stressful enough and planning a destination wedding (especially if you’ve never been to the destination) is another layer of stress. Allow your family and friends to help and be comfortable relying on others. “
What was the most memorable part of your wedding day?
“One of the most memorable was taking the time to do the first look and being able to capture those moments was super important to us. It also gave us a chance to have a little bit of “one on one” time before the craziness of the rest of the day.”
