Meet Arya – My Little Girl

As I look back on this sweet milestone from more than a decade ago, I can’t help but marvel at how time flies. Meet Arya—my precious little girl, born on January 8, 2013, weighing 7 pounds, 1 ounce, and measuring 19 ¾ inches long. She is, and always will be, one of the greatest blessings of my life.

Reflecting on her newborn session, I’m still amazed at how I pulled it off just five days after a cesarean delivery! Though I was still healing, the magic of those first moments with Arya made every effort worth it. I remember carefully styling her session with colors that mirrored the tones of her nursery—a dreamy palette of teal, yellow, and soft pink. Choosing hues that matched her space made her photos feel even more personal and intentional. Seeing those portraits displayed in her room brought so much joy, and it’s something I encourage all my clients to consider when planning their own newborn sessions.

Styling Your Newborn Photos

Creating a session that reflects your family’s unique style and your baby’s nursery décor adds a personal touch that can make your images even more meaningful. Whether you prefer soft neutrals, warm earthy tones, or vibrant pops of color, your choices can set the tone for timeless portraits. Here are a few tips to keep in mind when planning your session:

  1. Color Palette – Share the colors of your nursery with your photographer. Coordinating the session’s props and backdrop with your nursery’s design will create a cohesive look when you hang those precious portraits in your home.
  2. Personal Touches – Incorporate heirlooms or sentimental items. A handmade blanket, a beloved stuffed animal, or a personalized onesie can bring a story to your portraits.
  3. Simple Is Beautiful – While props can be fun, sometimes a classic, minimalist approach keeps the focus right where it belongs—on your beautiful baby. Neutral tones and soft textures can highlight every tiny detail.
  4. Comfort First – The baby’s safety and comfort are always top priorities. Your photographer will ensure that every pose is gentle, cozy, and perfect for your little one.

A look back

When I look back at Arya’s photos, I’m reminded of how small and delicate she was—a tiny miracle wrapped in love. Today, those photos are a treasured keepsake, a reminder of those fleeting newborn days that pass far too quickly. To every parent considering newborn photos, my advice is simple: don’t wait. Capture those early moments while they are fresh. Trust me, you will cherish them forever.

Thank you for sharing in this special memory with me. Whether you’re expecting your first baby or your fifth, I can’t wait to help create beautiful portraits that tell your family’s story—and maybe even match your nursery walls! If you’re planning your session, reach out and share your nursery colors with me. I’d love to bring your vision to life and create something magical for your little one.
